Penetration Sealing
When considering the design of a building it is prudent that the fire protection is considered early on and good liaison is established between the client, building designer and insurer. This will provide all parties with the opportunity to examine and develop the most cost effective and active fire protection strategy for the project.
FPSL has extensive experience in fire stopping ensuring openings and joints, such as service penetrations made by various contractors, are correctly fire stopped to protect against fire and smoke. During a project, contractors will make penetrations in fire resistance rated walls, floors, ceilings, and various structural components. This may be made up of cables, plumbing services etc. FPSL's objective is to restore the fire resistance ratings by filling the openings with fire resistant materials to ensure the fire integrity and safety of the building is maintained in accordance with BS476 Part 22.
All FPSL materials within a system that touch one another have compatibility both under fire conditions and operational conditions. For instance, a fire board is used in conjunction with its tested sealant. Wrongly used products on a project may degrade the penetration and may not achieve the required fire resistance and ultimately fail.
FPSL use a wide range of fire stopping products all of which are fully tested to BS476 and manufactured to BS EN ISO 9001:2008. Supplied by it sister company Fire Protection Developments, you can be assured that the required fire stopping system is installed correctly with fully tested and compatible products.
